Human

If someone asks what shaped the way I look at the world, I would probably start with movies. Especially the work of Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg. Movies like Alien, The Martian, Prometheus, and Raiders of the Lost Ark make me rethink everything the world has taught me from first principles.
I could say this interest in movies is probably the biggest reason behind the writing habit I described in the piece — Why I Write.
I've recently watched the movie Disclosure Day and almost instinctively knew I had to write down the chain of thoughts it triggered. This piece is purely a thought experiment on what happens when video games, science fiction, physics, technology, and ancient spirituality start to merge.
The Plot
In simple terms, the movie is about two people who were part of alien experiments as children. The government discovers that aliens are real and keeps it a secret. These two people grow up and eventually reveal the truth to the world, changing human history forever.
A few things stood out to me as extremely interesting. To explain them, remember these characters from the movie (spoilers!): a cybersecurity expert, and a TV anchor.
The two people who were part of the experiment are the cybersecurity expert and the TV anchor.
Here is what I found interesting:
- The TV anchor can read and understand all the memories (past and present) of the cybersecurity expert and of other human beings.
- She can also locate people from a distance, almost like GPS tracking, and influence human perception for example, making something invisible to the eye.
- She recites a few words in an unknown language to switch on an alien device.
Chain of Thoughts
The plot first reminded me of how AI works today. LLMs become powerful because of shared context. That shared context turns them into force multipliers. Given the right tools, it can operate devices and hardware the same way the characters in the film operate alien technology through direct access.
This immediately connected to Elon's idea on Singularity and collective consciousness. In simple terms (my understanding), he believes humanity is already in the early stages of an AI singularity. With AGI, the future becomes almost impossible to predict because the rapid self-improvement loop of AI will outpace human control and comprehension. Elon views platforms like X as a collective real-time human mind, where individual humans act as cells in a larger body. And to make sure humanity isn't left behind or losing relevance to continuously evolving AI, the only realistic option is brain-computer interfaces like Neuralink that eliminate the biological speed and capacity limits of humans in terms of mental input and output, and eventually, physical limits with transhumanism. Therefore, humans merging with AI prevents humanity from being left behind, and expands our own consciousness into mechanical form so that we can protect our future against advanced beings which are inevitably coming out of superintelligent AI.
This may or may not happen the way I've described, because it is still a distant future. But we already practice a version of it in the form of video games. In most games, the human character doesn't win through ordinary strength alone. The character merges with something more than itself like a weapon, a power, a suit, magic, etc. In that sense, video games may be the place where humanity has been practicing the idea of the singularity for a long time.
Once you see that we may have to eventually compete against our own creation, it is not surprising to consider that we would also place some form of that same rapidly self-improving AI directly into our brains. When this stage is reached, several things begin to shift:
- In physics, space and time are interconnected, meaning humans exist in four dimensions. Mechanical capabilities might one day stop biological deaths, but they won't stop the flow of time. So, if future mechanical capabilities allow us to upload human consciousness into a digital state, we could theoretically escape physical aging and death. In that digital realm, memory data from the past, present, and simulated future could be accessed instantly, the same way data exists inside a computer.
- On top of that, the definition of time has always been tied to human biology and the vastness of the known universe. But what happens to that definition if a person gains the power of a god - meaning, by installing superintelligent AI with an immortal body?
- How do we then relate to concepts like reality, emotions, meaning, death, god, and community?
- The practical consequence may be as follow: the elites may likely gatekeep access to superintelligence and advanced transhumanism, just as major powers throughout history have controlled education, oil, land, capital, voting rights, and compute. This will create new partitions inside the structure of society.
Once you notice the pattern of gatekeeping, another question appears. What if there were already humans who had the same abilities as the TV anchor in the film? Would we call them psychics, or gods?
Think about it — in almost every tradition there are stories of people who can read minds, sense things at a distance, bend reality and perception, like the characters from the movie. And once I think from that angle, the gatekeeping pattern makes one thing clearer: extraordinary capacity has always raised the question of who is allowed to have it.
History already shows a clear pattern like casteism, racism, classism, and more. These systems clearly decide who can get educated, who was allowed into the sacred inner temple, who gets access to read holy texts, and eventually, whose life is more valuable.
These thoughts may just be experiments, but they keep teaching me things about the world that are rarely written in textbooks.
After following this chain of thoughts, I keep returning to two ideas that have a similar shape but point in opposite directions. Almost like two sides of the same coin.
- Nirvana is the oldest spiritual goal on this planet. It is achieved individually, voluntarily, through practice and time. It's all about ultimate freedom — dissolving the self and becoming one with everything.
- Singularity is an event driven by technology described as the merging of all minds and systems and being absorbed into one collective and intelligent self.
Singularity is just as important as Nirvana, because from an evolutionary point of view, animals adapt to their environment — so do humans, adapting different eye colors, hair, and skin tones according to geography.
So why hesitate when it comes to this?
I kept digging into this rabbit hole and found something surprising. This very question was explored across Hindu texts as old as 5,000 years, another as recent as the 1500s.
Verse from the Bhagavata Purana (Srimad Bhagavatam) — Canto 5, Chapter 19, Text 21
There are multiple claims about the author and timeline. Some say it was written at the beginning of the Kali Yuga, around 5,000 years ago (3100 BCE), by Krishna Dvaipayana Vyasa (Veda Vyasa), while modern scholars say it originated in South India and was written between the 8th and 10th century CE.
एतदेव हि देवा गायन्ति (Even the gods sing of this)
अहो अमीषां किमकारि शोभनं (How wonderful are the pious deeds these people must have performed)
प्रसन्न एषां स्विदुत स्वयं हरि: । (Has the Lord Himself become pleased with them?)
यैर्जन्म लब्धं नृषु भारताजिरे (For they have obtained a human birth in the land of Bharata)
मुकुन्दसेवौपयिकं स्पृहा हि न: ॥ (Which is suitable for the service of Mukunda. We gods only long for such a birth.)
Verse from Ramcharitmanas (Uttar Kand, Doha 43–44)
Written by Goswami Tulsidas in 1574 CE, when India was under the reign of the Mughal Emperor Akbar.
बड़ें भाग मानुष तनु पावा। (It is by great fortune that one has obtained a human body)
सुर दुर्लभ सब ग्रंथन्हि गावा॥ (Which is rare even for the gods, as all the scriptures declare)
साधन धाम मोच्छ कर द्वारा। (It is the abode of spiritual practice and the gateway to liberation)
पाइ न जेहिं परलोक सँवारा॥ (One who obtains it and still does not secure the higher world is a fool)
These two texts say one simple thing: the human form is rare and valuable because it allows choice and practice. Gods remain bound to their nature. Humans alone are given the freedom to decide.
- At this point, I think, it is no longer simply "Which path should I choose: Nirvana (enlightenment) or Singularity (evolution)?"
- It becomes "Does the choice actually belong to me, or to whoever has the most authority?"
History answers this differently. But we are all spectators of the future.
What happens in the future is something I am very interested in, but would I still be as excited about that future as I am today if I already had a superintelligent brain and an immortal body?
I think the answer is no.
Finding ultimate freedom by changing the mind, rather than the body, versus curing all diseases, aging, and death through engineering.
One path makes you free. The other path makes you free forever.
The choice between staying completely human or becoming an enhanced one may be a bit extreme to think about today. But attempting to understand it clearly, while we still have the freedom to choose, and will to perform, is worth the risk.
